Demystifying Multiculturalism

The reading from the book showed a different light of racism. It is saying that since businesses and universities are now trying to be equal and multiracial that they are focusing less on education and the qualifications needed. They are more concerned on looking multicultural and giving everyone equal opportunities. However, students still feel that they are discriminated against and that racism is still present in the world. Their have been numerous examples of students who have acted out and protested on behalf of their feelings towards discrimination.

This relates to Western Michigan University because I feel that the school has a large variety of races, cultures, and beliefs. Their are also clubs and groups that individuals can join to express their interest in particular multicultural activities. Overall, I feel that Western really thrives to have an equal opportunity for everyone.
